Threading has been used to remove unwanted facial hair since ancient times and is a common method used in India, Pakistan and the Middle East. The procedure utilizes a length of thread, which is twisted back and fourth along the hairs that are to be removed.

The twisting action of the thread traps the hairs and lifts them out of the follicles. This method of hair removal is more effective and less painful than tweezing, especially for the face.
